Tell us a little about yourself.
Growing up in Japanese culture, which is so focused on maintaining harmony, I was not allowed to express and celebrate my individuality. But eventually I found the way to share through my art.
Tell us about your work.
I don’t have any specific medium to create my art. I just let myself wonder. My art comes in different forms such as digital, ink, oil, acrylic and encaustic painting. But I always have something of interest that reflects back on female eyes, faces, and figures.
How did you get started?
Natural I guess. 🙂 I was always painting since I was a child.
Are you trained or self tough?
I studied fine art major in oil painting. I learned technical skills there but didn’t do much as a career. After I move to Canada, art was always in my mind and I wish I had a job that I can enjoy and use my skills. So I went to a community college studying graphic design which I am working as UX designer right now.
Favorite part of being an artist?
Total freedom. I am so happy and graceful to have a tool to express whatever I feel. I am a believer that everyone has a voice. As an artist, we have chances and opportunities to tell stories to rise an issues, create impact and share them to the world.
What does a typical day in the studio look like?
Usually loud music and alcohol. hahah. 😛
Your personal favorite piece?
I am the kind of person who get too curious but get bored too easily. I need to switch up mediums to keep me inspired. I must say newest piece is my favorite until I have new idea for the new painting.
What makes you stand out from other artist?
I don’t know. As long as I enjoy what I produce, It doesn’t matter what others thinks. 😉
